New FBO

Plum Island Airfield (2B2) has a new manager. Steve Noyes CEO of Noyes Enterprises has assumed the position as the, third and final, Fixed Base Operator at the airport. Noyes is best known for building the conglomerate, Noyes Enterprises; currently consisting of the Small Engine Division, Baystate Banner Towing, Noyes Aircraft Restoration Services, and Noyes Aircraft Maintainence. With the new manager comes an L-19 Birddog and a T-41 for scenic rides .The first weekend in May found the president of PIA in his sitting mode, mowing twenty acres of grass on and around the airfield. Sunday was pot luck day(every first Sunday of the month) with a good turnout, which included the Waltons, who were thought to be held as hostages in the deep South. The T-41 was christened when the first scenic customers went for a ride around Newburyport and one young passanger couldn't handle the heavy G-loads. The grass field(14-32) has been tested and approved for those who wish to save on their tires. If you are out of practise with your soft field skills, wait till it dries out a little. The annual Spring Fly-In will be held on May20/21 with aircraft, young and old, from the region. Squadron 7 Warbirds and the Italian Airforce is expected. Hampton Airfield(7B3) will be having their annual fly-in Flea Market the same weekend so folks can go there early and then come to Plum Island for an afternoon of flying fun.
