Week ending May 13

The only flying this week at 2B2 was a few low passes by some Mallard ducks in from Joppa flats. Hopefully the weather will break soon and the flying can resume. It feels more like early March than May. It sure was better last month in Florida and the Bahamas. After a few days of Sun-n-Fun and some time on the Palatnick Cruiseliner, Rhapsody in Blue, we headed for Great Guana Cay Island in the Abacos; but not until we delivered Bob Walton back to Shirley at Venice Airport. Great Guana Cay is one of the most outer island of the Abacos and is just seven miles long. Although the island is popular for diving and fishing it is best known for its Guana Grabbers. Guana Grabbers are a concoction of many fruit juices and at least four different types of rum; one of which is 141 octane. After a long flight, debriefing is an option and if one debriefs with a Grabber then detox is definitely a requirement before next flight. We stayed at the Oceanfrontier Hideaway next to the renowned Nippers beach bar. Though Nippers makes a good Grabber, the best is obtained at the Guana Beach Resort Bar, where Jerry and Chorene Fording serve up the best. After a few days of snorkeling, spearfishing and Grabbers it was time to fly home. We promised the resort folks a little air show when we were leaving and took the opportunity to get some pictures. Mike sent one of mine back to the owner and the one wit the cottages next to multi-colored Nippers is now the lead photo on their web site. But alas all good times have too short a duration and it was back to PI and this monsoon.
