The Plum Island Airfield Spring Fly-In has been rescheduled for June 17-18 from 10:00 AM till 6:00 PM. We are expecting Wacos, Stearmans, Cubs, and assorted tail draggers to offset our younger aircraft with the training wheels. Squadron 7 Warbirds and the straggler O-2 should be present and we are hoping for a good turnout from the Brookline Air Force with a newly (crossed fingers) annualed Birddog in the lead (see photo). The weather has finally quieted down and although we were forced to cancel due to a flooded grass field, Hampton was able to get its Flea Market in. It was a little light on vendors this year but at least the hardy ones brought their wares to market.
Grass cutting and other ground maintenance was taken care of at 2B2 this past weekend with breaks for hot dogs and hamburgers thanks to Butch Crook (as always). The airfield has never looked better and when we get the roof fixed we can go back to rainy day hangar talks.
On my last trip to Greece, I was monitoring Athens ATC when I overheard "Olympic 123, proceed to the next intersection and turn left heading 230 at the ouzo factory" (check photo).
