Finally

The rescheduled spring fly-in finally got a break and we had ...count them.. two straight days of sunny weather. It may have been a little too hot and muggy on Sunday, but folks flew in from near and far. Although Charlie was in Tewksbury, looking after her Mom, she still took the time to send flowers and wish us well. Our northern neighbor, Veronique Werner flew in from Montreal in her Grumman Cheetah making the only International arrival. We got to see an assortment of aircraft minus the training wheel in the nose, including the Hughes Birddog, the Hampton Trio arriving in formation with Dennis in his Piper Cruiser, Pat in the Sportster and Rich Perrotti in a Citabria. Gary flew his RV-6 in on Saturday morning, blinding a few onlookers with that polished aluminum finish. Ray Moorman put on his usual spectacular show in his Pitts to the oohs and aahs of the crowd. We also had the Stearman from Hampton in for a short while, along with a nicely restored Stinson Voyager from Taunton. Steve Noyes finally got the Birddog from Long Island together (it was a real basket case just a few weeks ago) flew it with out a hitch and sent the happy owner off with his restored Doggy Sunday evening. Not to be out done by the flyers, our old skydiving friends returned to have two good days of jumping. Captain Eddy did the honors, as usual, at the controls of a straight tail 182. Although there was jumping at other locations nearby we had a good turnout. Dennis Ducharme was heard to say, " When Butchy puts out the call, we're there". That's Butch with the flag.
