Overdue
Sorry folks but the blogmeister had a lot on his plate for the last eight weeks. But we are back and I'll try to update you on recent events and what is planned for the near term. We had a few pancake breakfasts thanks to Gerrard, "Jughead", (the able culinary artist), and the all around entrepreneur Dick from down Maine. The annual members cookout was held in July with a reasonable turnout. By the way this is renewal time for PIA membership. If you aren't a member and wish to join, forms are available at the airport. If you care for this ancient gem by the sea, help us keep it alive. The airport has seen a steady flow of summer traffic from all over the Northeast, Southeast and our regular friend Veronique, from Montreal. One of the visitors from Vermont flew in with a recently restored 1940 Cessna C-165 sporting a SS165 series Warner and a great looking panel. (see photos)
Local young airshow and competition flyer, Rob Holland, was in to 2B2 this month with his new black beauty Extra tuning it up for coming events, and drew a crowd, even though the flights were of short duration while trying to get the aerodynamics of the ailerons tuned.
The airport has a new refrigerator and a new permanent canopy over the deck, thanks to the timely donation from Tom (Navion)O'Connor. Many thanks Tom.
A well attended evening on the Merrimac aboard the Full Moon, with plenty of food and beverage was once again a great event with skydivers, pilots, friends and family. Thanks George, Butch and Anita Rossi for making the "Full Moon" available.
September 15 Plum Island Aerodrome is hosting a Birddog/Taildragger fly-in in conjunction with Squadron 7's clambake. It is expected that L-19s will be coming from everywhere for this event. All are welcome but all Nosedragger aircraft will park on the east ramp. The Varga will graciously donate it's spot for the day. See you all at the fly-in and any time you are in the area. Don't forget potluck, the first Sunday of every month and renew those memberships.
