Barbecue Season

It seems like yesterday we were complaining about all the rain and now it's the heat. Well at least we have had some good VFR weather if one doesn't mind sweating in the cockpit a little. 2B2 has had a busy summer so far with a lot of activity and strange aircraft dropping by from near and far. On July 26, 2B2 hosted Rick Ross and his band of veteran Patriot Squadron Association of Naval Aviation buddies for their annual gathering and cook-out. It was great to hear the experiences of these proud warriors who flew from carriers, as pilots and gunners. We have them to thank for the freedom of flight we enjoy today.
Butchy and the skydivers( sounds like a 50's rock band) had their annual Plum Island beach cook-out July 29 with a good turnout with Dennis Ducharme and his lovely wife Linda headlining the floor show..or is that sand show? This past Saturday, a few of us flew up to Windsock for Joe Dion's annual cookout which was extra special, since the Dions celebrated Virginia's birthday and the great news that she is cancer free. Mineo flew up with George in the right seat, followed by the author with Veronique (who was visiting from Montreal) in the back seat of the Varga, followed by Captain Don in the 210 with first officer Virginia showing him the way. Good food good company and good news.
Happy flying. (Click on any photo to enlarge).
