Taildragger Turnout
Another overdue posting. There were a few heavy items on my plate that required much of my time in recent weeks. Charlie's mom who had been terminally ill for close to two years, passed away on October first. Charlie had been the prime caregiver for her mom for that period of time 24/7. Her mom was an extraordinary woman, who raised five children on her own after losing her husband in his early forties. Charlie saw to it that her wish to die at home was carried out, no matter. This grand lady was laid to rest on October 6 with a service that celebrated an exemplary life. Rest in peace ma and nous vous n'oublierons jamais.
Now for the belated report of a very successful turnout of taildraggers and nosedraggers. The weather forced the scheduled fly-in from Saturday to Sunday but the turnout was good. Birdogs,Cubs,Super cubs,Al Speckman's Waco, Huskys, and RV's flew in for the event. Even Limping Ox slipped in his freshly annualed Super cruiser.Of course there was assorted nose draggers as well.Squadron 7 co-hosted a clambake with us , serving lobsters, steamers and corn on the cob. Roger brought in the Eurocopter making rides available for the young and old.

(kid in copter photo by G.Kelly) Steve took the Super Dog for a spin and made sure the folks weren't bothered by mosquitos.
I was pressed into ground control duty, while Limping Ox was trying to control Gary Palatnick(A full time effort). No one got rich that day but all in all no one went home disappointed.
