Late Again
Here it is June and I'm covering April, and May. A lot has transpired in the last two months . First the Varga is finished and a great job thanks to Steve, Bill Caswell, Bill Pfeiffer and last but not least some electrical wisardry from Dick Coppithorn. Also thanks Tina for the afternoon coffee runs. The Varga flew solid, hands off, and was well trimmed and balanced. Hopefully we will post some photos of 62J in the air with Superdog soon. Work continues on Doc's dog, as Steve, Bill Pfeiffer and Dave O'Donnel continue to plug away. Plum Island aerodrome can boast to be the Birddog capital of the universe and sooner or later Birddogs and their owners will show up at 2B2. Sam Dawson was up from Florida with his bride for their annual visit to the area and Sam didn't waste time lending a hand.Sam is the one in the photo making sure Steve doesn't burn the hangar down.
.
There was a Birddog FAC(Forward Air Control) meeting in Lowell in late May and a few attendees dropped by to check out the working museum. Shown in the Hangar are Leonard Charbeneau, Jack Walters and Earl Russell.
As some of you may know the pilot lounge was a disaster case with a leaking roof that needed some serious repair. With donations from supporters and the efforts of Dick Coppithorn, Dave, Bill Pfeiffer and Doc Turnquist, the building will not float away any time soon. A new addition to the aerodrome is a Schweitzer 2-22 Glider, thanks to Long Island Ron DeLalio. The glider is here for those who would like to experience a smooth, quiet flight, that only a glider can give. The glider is towed aloft by either Paul Santopietro's Birddog with pilot John Carrol at the controls or Steve's Superdog with himself flying. Flying the glider is smiling Paul, who will give the passenger a unique flying experience.
So come on out for a flight in the glider , T-41 or Superdog; your choice.
Last but not least, the upcoming event on June 14, 10:00-3:00 the Boy Scouts "Lone Tree Rocket Launch" at the Spencer Pierce Little Farm, while at the aerodrome, pan cake breakfast/cookout 8:00-3:00. Sky dive Demo at noon, tours of the facility and projects as well as a radio controlled model aircraft demonstration and display.Mark that on your calender, PDA, Blackberry or any other device you have.If you don't have any of the above, try the old string on the finger.
