Radio Control Plus
Flag day, June 14 and 2B2 is closed to general aviation from 10:00AM till 3:00PM after Steve was finally able to straighten out Flight Service. The Boy Scouts annual Lon Tree Rocket Launch was scheduled in at the Spencer Peirce Little farm for that time. So it was agreed that it was a perfect opportunity to have a pancake breakfast/cookout, and host the North East R/C Model Club Chapter 3514 for the day. The event was a huge success starting with breakfast and ending with glider rides after the rockets were through launching from the farm. The airport program was opened at noon with a skydive demonstration with our own Butch Crook flying our flag.
The airport and Steve were recognized by the Scout leaders with framed certificates. Demonstration flying of model radio controlled airplanes and helicopters kept the crowd entertained. Following the R/C flying some folks took advantage of our glider rides and were carried aloft in the Schweitzer 2-22 for a great view of the city and seacoast. The glider was towed by a birddog flown by John Carrol while the glider was in the control of Paul Santopietro. The collage of photos well describes the events of the day, as enjoyed by young and old.
We will keep you posted for all the upcoming seasonal events, including fly-ins, concerts and more.
