Perfect Weather

September20/21 turned out to be the perfect weekend for a taildragger fly-in. With over 40 aircraft in attendance and an abundance of vittles cooked by the master chefs from down Maine(Dick and Jughead),the event was enjoyed by pilots, friends and visitors from the region.Mike Keenan added a new culinary touch with blueberry smoothies, made with blueberries he picked at the airport in between his regular mowing operations. Butchy, Dennis and Tommy with the regular Plum Island skydivers gave the crowd the added oohs and aahs with their aerial antics and their target perfect landings.
It was a truly family weekend, with young and old enjoying a glimpse of what flying at an old time little airfield is all about. Limping Ox(Dennis Dowling)and Little Fox(yours truly)with a rag tag crew of helpers made sure that Steve's annual event went off smoothly and safely.Folks were lined up for scenic and glider rides. While Steve was busy flying scenics and skydivers, John Carrol towed the glider with Paul Santopietro and Tom Mason sharing the glider pilot duties. Some of the crew were overdressed for the morning chill.
One arriving flyer was seen on long final over the beach with gear down.
Thanks to the Brookline Air Force, lead by Mike Hughes in the twin Comanche, with Russ Pietz in the blue and orange birddog, for their participation.

Our reward for the effort put in to an outing like this ,is the great community response. Thanks to all who made this a great weekend for Plum Island Aerodrome.
