Wedding bells at 2B2

What is the real mission of the friendliest little airport around? Serve the community in any way we can; that's our mission. On Sunday, October 12 at 4:00PM a unique wedding ceremony began on the edge of runway 32 with great foliage and two beautiful airplanes in the background(the bride and groom looked great as well). Shortly after, Kathleen Bottalico and David Strand were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Strand. Congratulations and the best of luck from the crew at Plum Island Aerodrome. Beginning last Thursday, Steve, with some help from his daughters Stephanie and Ashley made the hangar available for the bride and her ladies to organize, decorate and transform the space into a reception hall. The groom's army was responsible for the muscle required and before we knew it a tent was up, tables, chairs and a dance floor were in place. The finishing touches were made early Sunday on a perfect fall day. The airport never closed down and planes and glider were flown adding to the uniqueness of the event. Late news: Charlie hitched a ride in the back seat of the Varga, when I taxied back to the tiedown. By the way the PA-12 belongs to Dennis Dowling who did an excellent job on its restoration and the Varga belongs to you know who(restored by S.Noyes& Co.). The photos speak for themselves.
